It faces south and on the horizon you can see the Island of Montecristo the peninsula of Fonza lies to the west while the long and narrow Capo Stella promontory lies to the east. With a length of almost 1200 metres long this makes it the second longest beach on the Island of Elba (the longest is that in Marina di Campo). There are three reasons why it is so popular: the fine, golden sand it consists of, the fact that it faces south, and the fact that it is surrounded by very scenic nature.

It is the only beach in the entire Tuscan Archipelago where the dunes have survived over the years and where the sea lily (Pancratium maritimum) with its highly perfumed white flowers, grows.

The rocky sea bed is rich in posidonia so it is ideal for lovers of deep sea diving. The beach is perfect for teenagers too because there are many wide, free areas that are in complete harmony with the surrounding nature for those who wish, there is also a wide variety of water sports to choose from. It is the perfect beach also for families with small children because they can play safely either on the beach or in the water that is shallow till quite far out, to the point that in some parts it is still shallow even at a distance of ten metres from the beach. There is a beautiful pine grove that runs practically the entire length of the beach where you can rest, play or eat in the shade of the pine trees It is one of the few beaches in Elba where if you want to cool off the shaded area is completely natural and just off the beach.
